Helping Chyrl manage her pain
I would like to start by saying that Paulette’s High Fat Low Carb 12 Week Program has been one of the best programs I’ve tried. I struggle with a lot of health issues and am a heavier woman who has had a lot of trouble losing weight and eating healthy for many years. Two of the major health issues are fibromyalgia and lymphoedema. I was also diagnosed with osteoarthritis this year. I wake up in a lot of pain on a daily basis. Since I have started the 12 Week program I have noticed a change in my pain. Paulette has made it possible for me to do some things with variable pain now instead of it being an unbearable pain. I have also lost some weight in just three weeks, I noticed I have had more energy and have become a happier person. The cravings are less and I want to drink more water. My lymphoedema has also gotten so that I can put my shoes on more easily and my legs don’t hurt as much. I have experienced this in just the first 3 weeks, so I can’t wait to see what my 6th and 12th weeks will feel like. The one thing I love the most is it doesn’t feel like a diet. I actually feel full and with very little food now. It is a ‘must try’. Join the Facebook group- we would love for you to become a part of the family. Everyone is very supportive. Thank you Paulette for the support and love you share with us all.
They both feel more energetic
I love the recipes included in the 12-week program! Amazingly delicious and easy to make. Since starting the program my husbands’ blood sugar levels have decreased and we both feel so much more energetic. When we get off track it’s easy to get right back into it. Paulette’s guidance and support is always right there to help. The Facebook page offers the opportunity to ask questions and provide support. I can get help finding ingredients while I’m in the grocery store! She has thought through every special dietary consideration. She has also considered cost and time-saving. I love this program! It has given me the skills to maintain this healthier lifestyle permanently.
Her capris are too big now!
I’m feeling like this is a lifestyle change that I’ll be able to keep going with.
It’s getting easier to ‘throw something together’ for dinner because I’ve got the right ingredients on hand! Home from a workday in Toronto and family wanted chicken fingers and fries (who am I to say no after a long week?). Nothing is prepared and I just didn’t feel like another salad! Looked on the Meal Garden site and found the Egg Drop Soup. Quick, easy, tasty and ‘sticking to the program’. Thanks Paulette!
A ‘feel good’ moment today…I went to put on my capris (had been put away for the winter) and I couldn’t wear them! They were too big and wouldn’t stay up!
Sarah…Giving herself the gift of life-changing nutrition
I’m turning 40 this year and as a gift to myself I decided that I wanted to finally break some lifelong unhealthy habits, which included an unhealthy addiction to junk food, night snacking, and a tendency towards overeating as a result of an emotional attachment to food, for good. I’ve never been obese but I’ve always struggled with being technically overweight (according to charts and scales) although I hide it well due to my height. I finally came to a place where I realized that the only thing that was going to bring about permanent change was to break those habits and gain control over cravings and snacking. Now, in a busy life with three kids and a new, full-time career, I have no time to devote to the healthy cooking and exercise habits I had also cultivated over the years. The issue wasn’t knowing what to do or adding positive change, the issue was breaking the addictive
My first reaction to high fat and low carb (think Paleo or Keto) was “No way can I give up bread or sugar completely. Period. Also, I need more vegetables in my life, not fewer.” I dabbled in both, trying out recipes, going a few days here and there testing it out but always reverted back to old habits.
Fast-forward back to
The transition was fairly easy. A life that includes bacon, eggs, and really creamy coffee isn’t too shabby, after all. Within the first week I stopped being bloated. Wait, I was bloated? Yes. Permanently bloated.
This program is a game-changer. I feel full. Like not just full. Not like “oh, I ate too much”, but satiated. I eat and a few minutes later I feel done. I stop because I want to stop not because I am handcuffing myself to the towel rack. The first few weeks I said no to those old habits and it was hard. Now it’s still sometimes hard but I feel satisfied and full! I don’t crave those foods as intensely. Not only that, but I don’t like how I feel if I’ve indulged in those foods. I get bloated, sometimes gassy, and sometimes just experience overwhelming fatigue. It’s not worth it! When I do make a conscious choice to have something sugary or carby, I find I eat much smaller amounts and it’s much easier to stop. I don’t struggle with a binge complex.
It’s all about cutting the cravings at the source. I was fighting a battle with my own body without even realizing it. How could I conquer cravings if I was unknowingly fuelling those cravings? Balancing hormones, stabilizing blood sugar, and giving your body what it needs – nutrient-rich, dense, brain-feeding foods that taste good and make you feel like you could just keep going took me most of the way. After that, willpower is much easier.
I didn’t feel the brain fog lift that many people describe but maybe I don’t have brain fog (maybe this is as good as it gets, LOL). It wasn’t until I ate a turkey dinner with carbs and a side of carbs that I realized how much more energy I have throughout the day when I eat fewer of them (and better forms, at better times). No sugar crashes, no overwhelming fatigue, just a straight line of energy from morning until night.
This plan is, however, about moderation and differentiation. We aren’t cutting out all fruits and most vegetables. It’s about eating well and plenty of the foods that are good for you. If you aren’t ready to try something, don’t! Do what feels right for you. She eases you in one step at a time. You don’t hit the ground running and stumbling, she gives you manageable bites to chew (pun intended).
Everything doesn’t work for everyone! Paulette is there to support you; you aren’t alone. You’re also not a cookie cutter human. She works with you to problem solve and find something that helps you and works best for you. Bacon and eggs
It’s not rocket science, either. Paulette has done all that work for you. She’s constantly offering recipes, tips and new food for thought (pun intended, again). I’m only halfway through and I already feel equipped to handle this way of eating effortlessly. I’ve been to countless restaurants and succeeded at ordering HFLC friendly dishes, even at fast food restaurants!
I know that this program has changed my life for good because these habits are sustainable. I’m able to adapt most recipes to please my family (who are not eating exclusively HFLC) but they get lots of exposure to these kinds of foods and have been happy with them! Best of all, we get the Facebook community of people on their own HFLC journeys, for different reasons and with different (but equally awesome) results. I love logging in to the page and seeing what others are doing, cooking, eating, and struggling with. I love getting and offering tips, ideas
